Hello everyone, my name is
Steve, I like to play the slot machines ... and I am a "round-off-aholic".
My story goes out to Mojo. .. who ... and I quote: "couldn't find any
love at the cashout button" ... or something close to that effect.
My story began almost as soon as
did my fondness for the slot machines. I'd win a nice amount and I could
have hit that cash-out button right then but I just couldn't bring
myself to quit on that odd number. All that loose change and such. What
a bother! No, the smart thing to do is to play this machine to a nice
even number and I'll quit right there. Which was a fine idea that
wouldn't hurt anybody. In fact it was the right thing to do. Give the
casino a chance to win back some of that dough.
And thus the rationalizing
began. It worsened as the disease progressed. At first it was just
thoughts like "well I'd be silly to quit at three thousand and two when
I can play it down to three thousand or perhaps turn it into more. Later
I found myself unable to quit at a number like three thousand and ten.
It had to be an even number of three thousand or perhaps three thousand
and one hundred. Yes that would be a fine round number to stop.
I was out of control. Of course
I couldn't stop at a number like three thousand and one hundred. It had
to be either three thousand or perhaps thirty-five hundred. Yes! There's
a number I was sure I could be happy to quit on. But the disease had
other plans. I climbed to my goal of thirty-five hundred but decided
that was after all ... an uneven, even number. That just would never do!
Forging boldly ahead I continued
my quest to find the perfect rounded-off number to hit the cash-out
button. Three thousand, six hundred and fifty five, three thousand,
seven hundred and eighty four, the machine flashed at me. Bells rang,
whistles screamed, and the numbers rolled to four thousand and six.
Finally! Just play off those six and hit that cash out button for a
slick four thousand.
If only those two jackpot
symbols hadn't come up on that even number. Who could quit on an even
number when there were two jackpot symbols on the payline? It surely
meant the third was just waiting to join the other two. I boldly hit the
spin button once again. And again. And again. The jackpot symbols never
lined up.
I cashed out at an even number
of two thousand.
I can only hope my story can
help someone else out there.
